Autographed letter from McCormack to his parents and sisters addressed from Yazoo Landing, Miss., describing the march to Vicksburg, Miss., including the capture of approximately 7,000 Confederates and 70 artillery pieces, his involvement in the frontal attack on a Confederate fort by a party of volunteers, and the beginning of the siege of Vicksburg.
